International Women's Day- A Myth.

8th March, every year, is famously known as International Women's Day.
Women can be a crucial part of so many lives.

As a mother-  A pivotal role. Teaching a child how to walk, how to speak, how to be strong enough to face the world in the worst circumstances, preparing to be the best, the first teacher to an infant, sometimes unnoticed, being a single mother, giving all the love of both a mother and father, working independently for the well being.

As a sister- Fighting with the brothers, protecting and annoying siblings, always being there by his/her side.

As a daughter- A treasure, a beautiful gift that any parent may have, pride of the family.

As a wife- Support system to the husband, nurturing with love, affection and abundance of caring

This is not it, a woman can be a lot more, a teacher, a best friend, a girlfriend, a soul mate, a business partner, and what not. (Does the society even care about what else a woman can be? Doubtful. )

Well well well, the problem we have today, is that people see women just as a mother( a selfless housewife), a sister (to look after households), a daughter ( to get dowry) a wife ( to remove frustration) and that's it, nothing beyond these. Women having their own identity is an absolute rarity. Why? Hmm. It's something we all ponder about. Since forever, the never ending prejudices and stereotypes against women expect them to behave in a particular way and oh, the stereotypes even decide what a woman's existence is supposed to be like.

Women are way beyond gender roles, but do people understand that? Nah. Not yet. Situation is so tense in the present generation that we still have people asking ""Why do we celebrate women's day? Isn't that sexism?" often, this question is asked by fools unaware that we also do celebrate International Men's day on November 19th, every year. Calling Women's day " An act of feminism to propagate women empowerment" is what some hopeless people would say, but then again, society nowadays is all about saying and spreading rumors and scapegoating and dwelling on stereotypes anyways.

Leave alone our esteemed prestigious "oh so fundamental rights providing" country, India, where, lately, in the past one week, already, a girl has been sacrificed, a girl, who made a video to give out her opinions on National politics, was threatened to rape, a girl who was 3, who was barely learning to walk and talk, was molested by her own uncle, a woman, who was elderly, molested with her intestines ripped off, a girl, who was killed by her own parents because of her sexuality and a husband murdering his wife because he was caught cheating, yes, In one week. So applying how many weeks we've had, and how many we would be having in the near future, one can definitely sum up the amount of crimes against women. Okay let's move beyond India, Middle East, Oh my Middle east!
Women are not allowed to talk, women are not allowed to walk, women are not allowed to drive, women are not allowed to marry whom they want, women cannot wear what they want, women are severely punished for their choices, women are kidnapped for sexual pleasures, women are treated like trashcans, women are forced to have kids even when they're raped, young girls have their genitals mutilated because "they want to protect their girls from rape" or whatever, Oh the irony, when these people who care so much for their women trade them and sell them for money. What?  Women seem like oil to them? and why? because Jihaad has decided this is the role women play, and who's the biggest fan of this Idea?
Our dear ISIS, Of course.

Any attempt anyone makes to stop these, boooom! shot dead.

Long stories short, let me answer some frequently asked questions.

"Why women's day?"
Because sometimes a woman's Identity is forgotten and crushed under the superficial stereotypes of the society.
"What's the big deal?"
At least one day in a year a woman, pressurized by the prejudices and predetermined notions, realizes her worth.
"Women's day is just a show off stunt by feminists" T
aking down misogynists is not just the only goal we women have in our lives, if that was our only goal, you'd be gagged by now. :)
" Why do women get so serious? It's just a joke."
Just a joke? well, these jokes are the ones which propagate sexism, no matter however funny they may seem, so keep that sense of humor to yourself and crack jokes on better topics. ( I mean, there's Trump)
"Women are so emotional about everything. Why?"
Everyone biologically have emotions. If you don't then you need a psychiatrist, you're abnormal.
"Why do women want to do everything that men do?"
Well, firstly who decided which gender does what? Anyone can do whatever they wish to.

Happy International Women's day, to all the beautiful women out there. Live, laugh and conquer. Nobody's to stop us, we are who we are and nobody is to define us but ourselves. Screw the societal dictionary. Screw the stereotypical life you're living. Get out, stand up, and shine. Shine so bright that no negativity would ever encroach upon your endeavors. Shut out the chauvinists, cut the sexist crap! Stay happy and do what you love.

Feminism- The Untold Tale.

Often regarded as female chauvinism and female dominance, feminism is considered a movement started by women, who are desperate to be treated equal to men, feminism is regarded as "women trying so hard to become men"

Moment of Truth?
Feminism is a movement towards equality, feminism is not desperation but a slap on those faces who believe "Women are inferior to men", Feminism is not just about women promoting equality but also MEN who proudly call themselves a feminist.

Let me tell you a small story.

It all started with Adam and Eve. Where Adam, began to collect leaves, wood, nuts for survival, and Eve, was busy decorating the hut. Adam used to carry loads on his back, and Eve, used to take care of the offspring. Hence, everyone assumed for a fact that women are incapable of doing things, which men can. Poor Adam and Eve, I am sure this is not what they wanted.

Generations passed, we saw instances of great kings, highlighted for their mightily deeds, but queens, neglected. Everyone praises Mark Anthony for his conquers and bravery. How many of us have actually praised Cleopatra? Glorifying the Mughal empire, Akbar was easy, but there was also Razia Sultana, the lone warrior, and Rani Lakshmi Bai, fighting for her Jhansi. Queens were exchanged for empires, would it make a difference to people? No. Because obviously, women were "Meant to be in the kitchen, making food, making babies"

Firstly in India, there have been so many problems which women faced. Starting with the Sati System, Where, a woman had to jump into the funeral pyre, in which her husband's body was burning, like she had no choice but to jump into something she didn't wish to. (Much like arranged marriages these days) Then, the widows, were deprived of any status, any respect and they were treated like trash, an unwanted burden in the society. Most Importantly, Female Infanticide, where, once the child was out of the womb, and determined a female infant, everyone would mourn and kill the child, cause obviously, they wanted boys, and only boys. (and then there would be an irrational ratio of male and female population and then LGBT rights would become a new issue altogether)
As technology increased, the concept of "Sex Determination" came into existence, which made conditions for innocent girl child even more pathetic.

These problems settling in slowly, but others came up, women, considered to be an albatross, so often, in our tradition of Barter System, women were bought and sold. (Still happens, to my dismay)
Or worse, families were so poor that they needed money from the girl's family in the form of Dowry, how very kind, and then pressurized by the family to give birth to a baby boy. (Like it's totally in the woman's control, she only produces the sperm and the egg)

Time went by, education gained popularity in India, but again, girls were deprived of this facility. "What is the point on spending on a girl's education when she's gonna sit and home and have kids?"
There was a strong discrimination against girls, where families had a mentality of " Oh why spend on education if we can get her married someday?" and then continued the esteemed culture of "Child Marriage", where readily sitting pedophiles wanted to  marry 10 year olds.

Crawling and struggling we came to the twentieth century, where this precise history of women, still came back and haunted them. They didn't have their own Identity, dignity or respect they deserved.
Even during elections, a woman, was known as "Wife of XY" "Daughter of XY" "Mother of XY"
Was this fair? Of course not. And living on the assumption women will always be weak, our prestigious Indian Constitution even makes Marital Rape Legal in India!

Then we came to the twenty first century, everyday a girl raped, everyday an infant assaulted, everyday a woman killed, everyday an infant murdered, eyes on "Nirbhaya" which was horrifying to hear, and witness, in the documentary, which was once again banned by our generous government trying to hide it's flaws. If a girl wears crop tops and skirts she's exposing too much skin, but if she wears a saree, nobody cares about the skin and the girl becomes a very well mannered individual. What's gone wrong with our country? The mentality, and where is equality?
Hidden deep beneath the chauvinistic ego of society and culture, suppressed under a superficial world that women are incapable.

Story ends.

This is why we talk about Feminism.

Ironically, today, if a girl is raped, she is herself responsible for triggering or provoking the man. (society is definitely poor with biology and the concept of hormones I must say.) Wearing short clothes, is a sign of slut culture, if a girl has an opinion, she's ill mannered, if a girl is in a live-In Relationship, she's a prostitute. If a girl wants to get married to someone she prefers, she's ungrateful to her parents. Mentality, narrow-mindedness, is what is filled inside the ever shining heads of people. To discard these thoughts, is why feminism exists.

To all those tho prefer calling themselves "Equalists" or "Humanists" Just because "Feminism" has the word "Feminine" in it, let me tell you one thing, you're not going to lose anything by accepting for a fact that you're a feminist. Men or women. One should be proud, about being one. But often people mistake feminism with feminanizm. " I want women to do everything, for themselves, without the pressure of society, without any male chauvinism, without any restrictions" is a Feminism Mentality. "I want women to overpower the world, and make sure every man has a horrible lifetime, I wow to hate men" Is a feminazi mentality. The first step towards equality, would be understanding the difference between these and then making yourself familiar with which concept or which category you belong to.

Society needs to understand that women are not cars, for which they own a remote, and play racing games, women are not tools, to be used for their own benefits, rapists and rape- minded ever triggered people need to understand that women are not made for satisfying their hormonal imbalances, they should approach a doctor in such cases and not rape a girl, leave alone a girl, infants. Anyone can wear whatever they want to, may it be a saree or a bikini, may it be suit and tie, or shorts and tshirts, nobody's to judge. Nobody's to tell an Individual what to do and what not to, where they belong and where they don't, I think people have a brain good enough to decide for themselves.
Nobody is girly or manly. If I like wearing jeans, sneakers and tshirts, It does not make me boy-ish or manly, If a boy likes Pink, that doesn't make him girly. Preferences and choices cannot distinguish an Individual and their personality, is what majority of our society needs to understand.

This is my Insight on Feminism, what is yours? and by the way,

Are you a feminist?
